There are several hiking trails to choose from, ranging from a relaxed stroll through the Kalahari veld to a steep mountain route which offers a fantastic view of the Kalahari landscape. Alternatively, enjoy a leisurely stroll on the banks of the Orange River.

An African Safari is not complete without taking a Game Drive through the veld, which is always a good opportunity to see some wildlife in the natural habitat.

The South African sunset is known for its warm and wonderful coloured evening skies.

Orange River Hunting & Safari’s sundowners in the African Kalahari Veld is one of the “must do” African Safari Activities for any visitor or guest to the area.

Sundowners present guests with drinks and snack at a quiet location with a magnificent view.

Sundowners usually finish after dark and large bon fire starts when the sun starts to set.

The conservation area borders on the Orange River which offers the fishing enthusiast a good opportunity for fishing.

For the first timer, no equipment or skill is needed. Our trained staff will provide any guest with the angling basics and gear, to be able to have a good catch.

The Orange River boast with a variety of fish species, like the Rock-catfish, Maloti minnow, Namaqua barb, River sardine, Smallmouth Yellowfish, Largemouth Yellowfish.

One of the most memorable African Safari Activities for guest from abroad here at Orange River Hunting & Safari’s in the Kalahari is our Dune Dinners under the Stars.

Placed on a red sand dune, this activity starts off with a short game drive just before dark to a dune, where drinks are served before a fully catered 3 Course Meal under the open night sky.

Enjoy a 4 hour “walk and stalk” safari with a guide in the Kalahari Veld.

Have your photo taken by our guides and photographers as you move through the veld and come up close to the wild wildlife under close surveillance and guidance of our trained guides.

There are few African Safari Activities as thrilling as the our “Walk and Stalk” adventures.

This trip sets off early morning from the banks of the Orange River.

It is about a 4-hour row along the orange river in a canoe, followed by a picnic lunch at the finishing point.

This is one of more relaxing Safari activities, but presents for wonderful photo and landscape views.

Take a Helicopter trip over the reserve with a “game – flight” and round of your trip with a drop-off at a sundowner or dune dinner location.

A helicopter flight is the ideal way to see the area and some great game viewing and photo opportunities.
